Lucire Magazine – The hair colour and styles on the last page and this spread were done by Benoit Poirier d’Ambreville of the Roy Teeluck Salon. Benoit, whose work has already appeared in Lucire (March and April 2005; Lucire Romania in May 2005), is a colour specialist, transforming clients in ways that work with their features to enhance their natural beauty. His exertise lies in understanding the overall condition and health of the hair, and his ability to prescribe methods and products to maintain its vitality. Benoit’s extensive knowledge of the many hair products and processes allows him to tend to the individual needs and concerns of his clients. His ability to recognize and repair damaged and over-processed hair has provided his clients with treatments tailored to their needs.

Benoit was drawn to the Roy Teeluck Salon because of Roy’s long-established reputation in the business. A renowned stylist himself, Roy Teeluck prides himself in attracting the most talented stylists and colourists in the industry. The salon is located at 38 East 57th Street in the heart of Manhattan and directly across from the Four Seasons Hotel. Allure listed Roy Teeluck as Best Stylist and Duffy Neuberger as Best Eyebrow Stylist in the Best of the Best Directory, 2004. The Roy Teeluck Salon was voted number one for Colour and Highlights, 2005 on Roy and his team were the stylists at the 2005 pre-Oscars fashion show produced by the Academy. In addition, the salon has received a great deal of press and continues to be noticed for its outstanding work. Look for the Vogue article on Roy Teeluck due out in October 2005. Besides working closely with clients, Benoit has introduced the salon to additional products such as: L’Oreal Professionnel’s X-tenso Anti-Frizz, a mild treatment that eliminates frizz and makes the hair easier to manage; Custom Color Shampoo specifically coded for the clients needs; and colour products that nourish and condition while processing. Benoit contributes by guiding the staff in these new products and in addition to teaching classes at the Roy Teeluck Salon, he continues to be an educator for the L’Oreal Institute where he teaches Balayage, the French technique of painting highlights, and other colour processes to the cream-of-the-crop in the industry.

Benoit began his career at the age of 15, in Marotte Salon, a well established salon on the French Riviera. He studied at the L’Oreal Institute in Paris where he was fully trained and educated in all aspects of colour. Shortly thereafter, he returned to the south of France in pursuit of creative and more progressive environments. In 1989, Benoit began to freelance in London while maintaining his clientele in France. His résumé includes freelance work for Trevor Sorbie, London and Warren Trioomi, New York. In 2001, Benott founded Beauty & Beyond, an upscale full-service salon and spa in Monte Carlo. He created the salon based on his philosophy of offering and using highest quality products, keeping with classic techniques and introduced an ‘urban edginess’ that has become his signature style. Shortly after closing his salon, Benoit came to New York where he continues to flourish at the Roy Teeluck Salon.
