Benoît Poirier d’Ambreville is an individual who believes strongly in the evolution of self and new ideas particularly when pertaining to the world of beauty.
At the age of 15, Benoît’s creative talent with hair caught the attention of the owner of Marotte Salon, a well established chain based in the glamorous French Riviera. Monsieur Andre Marotte made arrangements for Benoît to study at the prestigious L’Oreal Institute, Paris where he was fully trained and educated in every facet of colour- from consultation, theory and application to product knowledge. The expertise gained while studying with the L’Oreal Institute, brought forth Benoît’s passion and desire to create.
After returning to Nice and working successfully for 3 years, Benoît realized that to fully achieve the creative levels he sought would require him to experience more progressive environments.
In 1989, after moving to England, he began working at the Trevor Sorbie Salon in London, familiarizing himself with the English market. Shortly thereafter, Benoît made the transition from classic salon style to the avant-garde.
Over the course of his stints in London, he was approached by a photographer who suggested he model, leading to a 5 year career that exposed him to the major capitals of the fashion world- Paris, Milan, and New York. Benoît modeled for two years in London and three in New York. After modeling, Benoît resumed his career in the hair colouring industry, working for upscale salons in New York City, as well as as a freelance platform artist and educator for L’Oreal Professional USA. While working in New York, he mastered the classic Balayage technique, successfully integrating the “urban edginess” that has become his signature style. His personal philosophy of past meets future is inspiring Benoît to develop his own line of hair pigmentation which will revolutionize a new era of colour.
In 2001, after his return to Europe, Benoît created and founded Beauty & Beyond, an upscale, full service salon/spa in Monte Carlo, catering to Monaco’s elite clientele. His desire to work in more progressive urban environments, which has always been his motivating force, led him to move back to New York City where from 2005-2008 he created up-do’s for celebrities to wear to the Academy Awards Ceremony. After this, he decided to recreate the success of his Monte Carlo salon in the South American metropolis of Santiago, Chile.
Mr. Poirier d’Ambreville is involved in a wide range of charitable initiatives. He is now creating his own charity foundation via Atelier Benoit Poirier d’Ambreville where every Friday, Benoit takes care of two breast cancer survivors from La Clinica Las Condes. The idea is to offer grooming services as a way to boost a woman’s new confidence and start a new life on the journey of recovering.
